Configuring Your Browser To Take Our Survey

1. Determine which version of browser you are using. This information is typically available by selecting  Help located in the menu at the top of the screen. 

2. Click on the type of browser you are using below to find out what settings need to be enabled on your browser to have the best Internet experience with our site.

| Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher | Mozilla Firefox 4.0 or higher | Google Chrome 10.0 or higher | Safari 5.0  or higher |

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

Enable Pop-ups
Some browsers or browser add-ins allow the user to disable the opening of pop-up browser windows. These windows often contain advertisements. Depending upon project specifications, our questionnaire may operate in a popup window so they must be enabled to take a survey. You may disable pop-ups again after completing the questionnaire. From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen: click on:

  1. Tools
  2. Internet Options
  3. Privacy tab
  4. Uncheck "Turn on pop-up blocker"
  5. Click OK at the bottom to exit

Enable Cookies
By default your browser's cookie settings are configured correctly.  If you happen to encounter any session issues while browsing, please follow the directions. From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen: click on:

  1. Tools
  2. Internet Options
  3. Privacy tab
  4. Click on Advanced
  5. Check "Override automatic cookie handling"
  6. Make sure both settings are set to "Accept"
  7. Place a check in front of "Always allow session cookies".
  8. Click OK at the bottom to exit

Delete Existing Cookies
Sometimes failures to access pages in our site are the result of old cookies stored on your computer. From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:

  1. Tools
  2. Internet Options... 
  3. Under Browsing History, click on Delete cookies...
  4. Click OK at the bottom to exit

Setting Scripting and Java
From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:

  1. Tools
  2. Internet Options... 
  3. Security Tab
  4. Under "Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings.", click Internet
  5. Custom Level...
  6. In the Scripting section under "Active Scripting", click Enable
  7. In the Scripting section under "Scripting of Java applets", click Enable
  8. Click OK
  9. Click OK at the bottom to exit


Mozilla Firefox 4.0 or higher

  3. Content
  4. Uncheck "Block pop-up windows"
  5. Click OK at the bottom to exit

  1. Firefox tab
  2. Options tab
  3. Privacy
  4. Under History select "Firefox will remember history"
  5. Click OK at the bottom to exit

Delete Existing Cookies

  1. Firefox tab
  2. History
  3. Clear recent history
  4. Check "Cookies"
  5. Select "Clear now"

Setting Scripting and Java

  1. Firefox tab
  2. Options tab
  3. Content
  4. Make sure "Enable JavaScript" is checked
  5. Click OK at the bottom to exit

 

Google Chrome 10.0 or higher

  2. Options
  3. Under the hood
  4. Content settings
  5. Under pop-ups, make sure "Allow all sites to show pop-ups" is selected.
  6. Click X at the top right to exit
Setting Cookies
From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:
  1. Customize and control Google Chrome
  2. Options
  3. Under the hood
  4. Content settings
  5. Under cookies, make sure "Allow local data to be set" is selected.
  6. Click X at the top right to exit

Delete Existing Cookies
Sometimes failures to access pages in our site are the result of old cookies stored on your computer. From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:

  1. Customize and control Google Chrome
  2. Options
  3. History
  4. Edit items
  5. Select "Clear all browsing data"
  6. Make sure "Delete cookies and other site data" is selected.
  7. Select "Clear browsing data"
  8. Click X at the top right to exit

Setting Java
From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:

  1. Customize and control Google Chrome
  2. Options
  3. Under the hood
  4. Content settings
  5. Under JavaScript, make sure "Allow all sites to run JavaScript" is selected

  6. Click X at the top right to exit


Safari 5.0 or higher

  2. Make sure "Block pop-up windows" is not selected
Setting Cookies
From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:
  1. Display a menu of general Safari settings
  2. Preferences
  3. Security
  4. Make sure "Accept cookies", has "Always" selected
  5. Click X at the top right to exit

Delete Existing Cookies
Sometimes failures to access pages in our site are the result of old cookies stored on your computer. From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:

  1. Display a menu of general Safari settings
  2. Reset safari
  3. Make sure "Remove all cookies" is checked
  4. Select "Reset"
Setting Java
From the horizontal menu at the top of your screen, click on:
  1. Display a menu of general Safari settings
  2. Preferences
  3. Security
  4. Make sure "Enable Java" is selected
  5. Click X at the top right to exit
