Cells Menu (Edit Banner)

The Cells menu of Setup Banners|Edit Banner allows you to merge or split cells, justify text in cells, update text case and capitalization or remove leading and trailing spaces from cells in the banner text area of your banner.

Merge Selected Cells

Highlight the cells for merging and select Merge Selected Cells from the Cells dropdown menu to merge multiple cells into one cell. This is especially useful when you want to add a heading above a set of banner columns (e.g. adding the heading "Gender" over the "Male" and "Female" banner columns).

IMPORTANT: You must highlight the cells of the new row just added to Merge Selected Cells. Just selecting the columns in the Columns list box or just highlighting the column headings (i.e. 2, 3, 4, etc.) will not allow you to Merge Selected Cells.

Unmerge Selected Cell

Highlight the cell and select Unmerge Selected Cell from the Cells dropdown menu to split one merged cell into multiple cells.

Select All

Select All selects all editable cells of the banner. This is especially helpful when using many of the Cells menu options, including Left Justify, Center Justify, Right Justify, Lowercase, Uppercase, Title Case and Trim Spaces.

Top Justify

Selecting Top Justify from the Cells dropdown menu top-justifies the banner text in all selected cells of the banner. You can use Cells|Select All to highlight all cells of the banner, then select Top Justify to top-justify all banner text at once.

Bottom Justify

Selecting Bottom Justify from the Cells dropdown menu bottom-justifies the banner text in all selected cells of the banner. You can use Cells|Select All to highlight all cells of the banner, then select Bottom Justify to bottom-justify all banner text at once.

Left Justify

Center Justify

Selecting Center Justify from the Cells dropdown menu center-justifies the banner text in all selected cells of the banner. You can use Cells|Select All to highlight all cells of the banner, then select Center Justify to left-justify all banner text at once.

Right Justify

Selecting Right Justify from the Cells dropdown menu right-justifies the banner text in all selected cells of the banner. You can use Cells|Select All to highlight all cells of the banner, then select Right Justify to left-justify all banner text at once.

The Left Justify, Center Justify and Right Justify options of the Cells menu are operations applied to text that has already been entered. Selecting these justification options does not influence text as you type. All banner text is left-justified by default and can be adjusted otherwise using Center Justify or Right Justify after the banner text has been entered.

Lowercase

Selecting Lowercase from the Cells dropdown menu converts all banner text to lower case in all cells of the banner.

Uppercase

Selecting Uppercase from the Cells dropdown menu converts all banner text to upper case in all cells of the banner.

Title Case

Selecting Title Case from the Cells dropdown menu capitalizes the first letter of all banner text in all cells of the banner.

Trim Spaces

Selecting Trim Spaces from the Cells dropdown menu deletes all leading and trailing spaces for all banner text in all cells of the banner.

Auto-Size Underlines

Selecting Auto-Size Underlines is a quick and easy way to automatically shorten or lengthen all banner underlines to match the full column width. This is especially useful after adjustments have been made to column widths as a result of columns being deleted, or when cells have been merged or unmerged.
