Setup Variables Format
To create a new Variables Format file (*.svy) select the Variables tab and then select File|New. You will be prompted to name and save your new file upon opening.
Use the following steps as a guide for setting up your variable format:
Note: There are some restrictions for using special characters in variable names. The dash character “-“ is not a valid character in a variable name. |
Note: For decimal formatted responses, use float-blank or float-zero filled. |
Note: The maximum field width for integer type fields is 10 characters. |
Note: If you will be creating multiple data sets, the output sequence must be the same for all files that will be combined in the Export process. |
Note: A key field is not required, however, at least one field must be defined as a "key" field to use the Delete, Reverify or Search menu items. |
Follow the steps above for record/column format replacing output sequence numbers with column/byte assignments.
