Q. What is the difference between CATI and CAPI?

A. CATI means “computer assisted telephone interview” and refers to a type of software used at centrally located phone centers. Here, interviewers dial phone numbers of potential respondents at their home or place of business, with the respondents representing a select sampling of the population.

CAPI means “computer assisted personal interview.” This type of interviewing is usually completed in person at the homes or businesses of selected respondents, or at mall intercept centers. WinQuery can be easily switched between these two modes.

Q. Can WinQuery be used for Web-based interviewing on the Internet?

A.   Yes. You can save any questionnaire in Web-ready format. You may then easily upload the Web-ready files to a hosting service running QueryWeb (also from TAG). QueryWeb is also available separately so you may do your own hosting, as well as provide a hosting service to others creating WinQuery questionnaires.

Q. Can WinQuery jobs be shared with other marketing research companies?

A.  WinQuery users are able to easily share work with each other. In order to complete large studies in less time, WinQuery users can tap into the capacity of other users located around the world through QueryPartners, a Web-based referral service. All WinQuery users are invited to participate in QueryPartners free of charge.

Q. In what format does WinQuery store its data?

A. WinQuery data is stored in ASCII files. Using this widely-recognized format, data can easily be output in either a card/column, single record layout, comma delimited or tab delimited format.

Q. Can WinQuery utilize an electronic form of a survey questionnaire/instrument?

A. Using some simple formatting rules, you can import almost any type of survey questionnaire/instrument, then edit it in WinQuery. This can save you a lot of time during the programming process and in duplication of tasks.

Q. Which tabulation packages can be used with the data collected by WinQuery?

A. Data collected in WinQuery can be directly imported into WinCross the widely popular and powerful crosstabulation software produced by The Analytical Group. With the purchase of an optional linking module, WinQuery data can also be used by SPSS, Uncle, Microtab, Quantum, Merlin or The Survey System.

Q. Can WinQuery be used with a predictive dialer?

A. Used along with a modem and optional dialer software, WinQuery can automatically dial a phone number for the agent/interviewer, thereby increasing productivity. StrataDial, a predictive dialer by StrataSoft, and Pro-T-S, a power dialer by Marketing Systems Group, are two predictive dialing systems WinQuery supports.

The SPSS dll file, spssio32.dll, used by WinQuery, is not the correct version.  You need to copy the correct spssio32.dll file into the same folder where WinQuery.exe resides. Contact WinQuery Support for the correct spssio32.dll file.

Q. Does WinQuery account for the Daylight Savings Time (DST) change beginning March 11, 2007?
WinQuery 6.0 & 8.0 have been updated to account for this. Please contact WinQuery Support to receive the new files.
